Death by Robben

England 2-3 Netherlands

Wembley lit up last night as Ashley Young equalized in stoppage time, but fell a minute later as Arjen Robben grabbed his brace and Holland’s winner.

The first half started and ended dully. There were few chances and it was clear that both sides were simply getting to know each other. The second half was much more exhilarating.

Arjen Robben broke the deadlock on 57 minutes, and just a minute later, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar had made it two. Gary Cahill scored England’s first as his right foot finish slipped under Stekelenberg and England were back in the mix. Stoppage time arrived, and Ashley Young punished Holland with a delightful chip……..but they were only punished for a minute, as Arjen Robben sensationally won the match for Holland with a beautifully curled left foot finish
