Welbeck and Wembley Sink Belgium

[Bleacher Report]

England 1-0 Belgium

Danny Welbeck chipped Simon Mignolet of Sunderland to claim victory over visitors Belgium for the Three Lions, as Hodgson was left cheering.

On a warm evening at Wembley, England performed well against Belgium. The first half was evenly matched, and was possibly even better for Belgium in terms of quality in the final third. Though England took their chances more consistently, and it paid off in the thirty-sixth minute, as Ashley Young broke free and passed the ball to Welbeck who scored his first senior goal.

Jermain Defoe had numerous chances in the second half but couldn’t capitalise on them, and so the match ended England 1-0 Belgium.
