Sweden 4-2 England
A weak England squad could not deal with one man Sweden, as Ibrahimović scored four magnificent goals to beat Roy’s men in the opening of Sweden’s new national stadium The Friends Arena of Solna.
Not even the mastermind himself would say he could have done better, because not many players can boast scoring four goals of any quality against, never mind wonder goals. In fact, only he can boast this. The striker scored the first goal of the game after just 19 minutes. When Ashley Young cross found its way past goalkeeper Isaksson, the only thing that the incoming Welbeck could do was score. Three minutes later, Steven Gerrard, celebrating his 100th cap, sent the free-kick into the box, only for one of six debutants Steven Caulker to scrape the ball over the line. England led in Stockholm at half-time.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic then equalised with a lovely stomach and volley into Hart’s front post. Zlatan then scored a long range free-kick that travelled low and almost along the ground. And finally, in stoppage-time, Ibrahimovic scored an immaculate bicycle-kick from thirty yards out to secure a win, and another entrance into the record books.
